This is a highly unusual but deeply moving book where Julian Barnes writes beautifully about his emotions in confronting the death of his wife of many years . Barnes who wrote a brilliantly smart book about death -Nothing to be Afraid Of- this time he delves deeply into grief and how it changes the life of the survivor.

For anyone who has experienced grief and the abounding silence that happens afterwards. The first two chapters are just filler but make sure you get to the third chapter.

This book is a lump in the throat, a burden in the chest, tears in the eyes. It captivates, takes you to the "level" and throws you to the ground.
